Our Rav
Wisdom of Kabbalah is transferred from teacher to disciple - from generation to generation and, therefore, it is essential to have a strong teacher that can guide you in your spiritual journey.
Many articles have been written about the importance of the teacher (Rav in Kabbalah) and, therefore, to avoid duplications let’s focus on the key points to consider when you choose your guide:
- Your Rav has studied for years in recognized yeshivas and preferably has Rabbinical ordination from a well-known Rabbi
- Your Rav attained the wisdom from a known Kabbalist (such as Yehuda Ashlag [known as Baal HaSulam], Baruch Shalom Ashlag, etc)
- Your Rav is teaching from authentic & unedited sources (such as Zohar, Talmud Eser Sefiroth, etc)
- Your Rav is bringing you to “Dvekut” (cleaving) to the Creator
While there are many instructors out there, there are not so many teachers that actually learned from known Kabbalists. And while there are teachers that indeed learned from such widely recognized Kabbalists around the world as Rav Ashlag z”l, they either live in Israel and you don’t have direct access to them or you have to study via intermediates such as instructors (which are beginners themselves) or via the Internet (that limits your participation in the lesson, which is the key to your advancement) .
It is, therefore, a true miracle from above that we found Rav Okowita, who studied for many years by HaRav Baruch Shalom Ahslag (RABASH) - the firstborn son of Rav Yehuda Ashlag - the author of famous commentary on Zohar known as HaSulam (the ladder).
Rav Okowita also studied in Yeshiva Kol Torah in Jerusalem headed by HaRav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach z”l and in Yeshiva Beis Meir in Bnei Brak headed by Rav Zalman Rothberg z”l and received Rabbinical ordination from Rav Chaim Shaul Kareletz (nephew of the Chazon Ish).
At present Rav Okowita lives in NY Tri-State Area, maintains continuous contact with many students of Rav Baruch Shalom Ashlag and teaches in person the wisdom of Kabbalah as it was passed to him by his great teacher - HaRav Baruch Shalom Ashlag.
